Art Tells It Like It Is

Picture
Awww, all of this talk about money and details and who pays for what just makes my head hurt.  I didn’t move out here so that I could start acting like an accountant.  I just want to be with my friends and make some paintings.  So long as there’s enough to cover the rent, it’s all cool with me.

I thought the show was fun.  I liked having people come together.  It was like a festival.  That’s been one of my dreams, ever since I was a kid, to just have people come together and be happy and share artwork.  So, for me, that part of it felt like a smashing success.

And, truth be told, one of the things I liked most about it all was that I got to be there and see all of the people, but I didn’t have to be the only person to talk about my art.  In fact, I was thrilled, Prudence, when I saw you take the lead with your friends from the City.  You are so much better at that than I’ll ever be.

Prudence looked at Art for a long time.  She seemed flushed, but stayed quiet.  It was as if she’d never thought of the show in quite this way, as if she’d never thought of her relationship with Art in quite this way.  She opened her mouth to speak, when Art stood up and began to talk.
