Who is Nanci?

Picture

Nanci plays bass for a punk band named “Mick’s My Mother” (a band that groupies refer to as “M cubed”) and she wrote the band’s song: “I Don’t Like You” (they only have the one, but one’s been enough).

The song is a sixty-minute romp that evolves and changes with each successive set.  Fans don’t care about the lack of variety, don’t even seem to notice.  Every show is packed and, from the moment Nanci’s bass starts pounding, the riot is on.

Nanci also handles business aspects such as booking, promotion, and band management.  In the early days, promotion was all word of mouth and band management only involved making sure the instruments and amps arrived in tact.  In recent years, as the band has become increasingly successful, Nanci had to take on additional management activities.  For example, a club owner who regularly books her act recently sat her down with a graphic design firm to discuss signage.  Working with an professional firm was a new experience for Nanci, and did not clearly (in her opinion) produce superior results.
