Here's a tip to help you.
If you think you're too old, you'll be glad you put some money put aside, no matter how much. If you think you're too young, you're not. Get started.
Here's a tip to help you.
- Set up an automated deduction from your checking account or from your paycheck.
- The monthly deduction goes into an account you don't and can't access easily (no checkbook or debit card attached to it).
- Begin with a small amount: $15 - $30 each month. More if you can.
- Live your life.
- After 6 months, increase the monthly amount a bit, by $5 - $10. More if you can.
- Live your life.
- At each 6 month interval, ratchet up the monthly amount you're putting away.
- In a short couple of years, you'll have adjusted to a lifestyle in which you put away a good chunk of change.
- When you get to 10% of your income, you can ease off the increases. Or keep going, but don't lock it all up, you'll need some access to that money sometime!
